Help Us Build Safety and Stability for Survivors of Domestic Violence in Southern Ashtabula County
My name is Judie Lyn, and I’m the founder of Ashtabula Phoenix Rising, a new nonprofit dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence. Today, I’m asking for your help to build something our community has needed for far too long: safe transitional housing for survivors and their children.
Southern Ashtabula County has no transitional housing options. Survivors leaving emergency shelter often face an impossible choice — return to an unsafe home, become homeless, or leave their community entirely. No one should have to make that choice.
We are changing that.
Our Project
We are converting an existing two‑story garage into a warm, fully furnished two‑bedroom transitional housing unit with an on‑site office for case management, safety planning, and support services.
This space will give survivors:
- A safe place to heal
- Stability for their children
- Support to rebuild their lives
- A path toward independence
Why This Matters
I grew up in the Grand Valley area. My family has lived and worked here for at least four generations. This community raised me — and now I’m giving back by creating a lifeline for families who have nowhere else to turn.
How You Can Help
Your donation will help cover:
- Renovation and construction
- Plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
- Safety upgrades
- Furnishings and household essentials
- Case management and support services
Every gift makes a difference:
- $25 provides household essentials
- $50 supports transportation assistance
- $100 helps furnish a bedroom
- $250 supports case management
- $500 helps with renovation costs
- $1,000 sponsors a month of housing for a family
Together, we can build safety, hope, and a new beginning for survivors in our community.
Thank you for believing in this mission and helping families rise again.
With gratitude,
Judie Lyn
